Our Mission

Wounded Warrior Wives provides support to military and veterans’ families by caring for the caregivers of our wounded, ill and injured warriors. We do this by providing a variety of resources including retreats, support groups and our online community. Wounded Warrior Wives program currently has 922 members. If you would like to join the program and our online forum, simply click on the Sign In link on the upper corner of this site.

Our WWW Team

  • Sara Boz
    Sara Boz
    Director of Wounded Warrior Wives Program

    Sara has an Associate’s in Accounting, a Bachelor’s in Social Psychology and a Master’s in Counseling. She is a Ph.D. candidate in Psychology, working towards finishing her dissertation on homelessness. Sara served in the Air Force on active duty between 2000 and 2004, and has been with the Air National Guard since 2004. Homeless prevention and military families are both truly close to Sara’s heart. She joined Wounded Warrior Wives in April 2012 to continue pursuing her life’s passions.

    Julie Swearingen, Ph.D.
    Clinical Psychologist

    Dr. Julie is a graduate of the United States Air Force Academy and received her Master’s and Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology at the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences in Bethesda, Maryland.  She was active duty for over 11 years, and during that time her training, work and personal experiences gave her the opportunity to see the gamut of consequences military life can have on military members and their families.  After leaving active duty to focus on her own family in 2006, Dr. Julie joined the Operation Homefront/WWW team to continue to use her skills and experiences to help our country’s heroes.

    Cheryl Gansner
    Group Leader

    Cheryl is the wife of a severely injured veteran.  Bryan and Cheryl were married before his second deployment to Iraq. Bryan was severely injured by an improvised explosive device (IED) six weeks before coming home and spent 20 months rehabilitating at Walter Reed Army Medical Center. Cheryl graduated with her bachleor's degree in Social Work and started working with Wounded Warrior Wives in August 2010. 

Care Packages

New members will receive a special care package, courtesy of a generous anonymous donor, Arbonne International and Operation Homefront. This Caregiver Care Package is full of items to remind caregivers that effectively caring for others requires that they take some time and energy to care for themselves.
